Sleep in the Trees in the Peruvian Amazon

There are probably many things that inspire you to muster up the motivation to plan a trip to the Amazon in Peru. Maybe you are looking forward to pairing a journey into the natural jungle with a trip to Machu Picchu, or perhaps you are just looking forward to discovering an unknown world of animals and vegetation unlike anywhere else in the world.

But what about a chance to sleep in the trees more than 85 feet in the air?

At Inkaterra's Reserva Amazonica lodge right along the Madre de Dios river, about 1 hour from Cusco by plane, visitors have the opportunity to spend a night in the rainforest canopy in the lodge's special Canopy Tree House and wake up to a wealth of animals not seen from the ground up.

Also, there is only 1 such accommodation, which means that you will be in absolute seclusion and privacy during your stay.

The Canopy Tree House is linked to Reserva Amazonica's canopy walkway, used for tours during the day, by way of a suspension bridge. There are 2 beds, a lavatory, portable toilet, limited lighting, windows with mosquito netting (removable for when you wish to watch birds from the comfort of your room), and drop leaf table with wooden folding chairs.

What if you wish to request service from the main office? A walkie-talkie is provided so you always have open communication with your exclusive Canopy Butler!

Towards nighttime, twilight cocktails are provided at your convenience on one of the canopy walkway platforms, and a serene night light dinner can be enjoyed at your leisure on site. Finally, breakfast will also be brought to you wake up as one with the Amazon Rainforest and its lively treetop creatures.
