Latin America came out strong in this year's World Travel Awards, held in Lima, Peru, on July 20, 2013. Considered to be the "Oscars of the travel industry", World Travel Awards honors the finest properties and best travel professionals throughout the world, and this year marks the premier travel industry event's 20th anniversary.

This year, Quito, Ecuador, took the title of "South America's Leading Destination," while Peru was awarded "South America's Culinary Destination." We are not surprised by either: Quito is an intriguing mix of old and new--the juxtaposition of the impressive colonial center with the modern infrastructure--and is beautifully encased by the Andes Mountains, which makes for some truly amazing viewpoints. Peruvian chefs have been taking the globe by storm and chefs from all over the world are opening restaurants in Lima; it is a definite foodie destination and we invite you to join us on one of our culinary tours of the city.

Brazil was also named "South America's Leading Green Destination," showing its commitment to ecological tourism; we are happy to know that the country values its amazing natural resources and gorgeous swaths of Amazon rainforest, and wants to share it with the world in a low-impact way.
