Cruceros Australis – Expedition Cruises in Patagonia and Cape Horn
Discover the South American continent's most pristine magical regions aboard the M/V Mare and Via Australis. These Expedition Cruise Ships take you around the island of Tierra del Fuego, through the legendary Strait of Magellan, Beagle Channel and Cape Horn.
There are two weekly programs from each departure city: Punta Arenas (Chile) and Ushuaia (Argentina). Punta Arenas programs depart on Saturdays and Wednesdays and are always 4-night sailings; Ushuaia departures are on Wednesdays and Sundays and are always 3-night cruises. Passengers get to visit one of the most pristine regions at the southernmost tip of the world.
Disembarkations into uninhabited islands and fjords take place daily in zodiac motorized rafts, allowing passengers to see penguins and other wildlife colonies, the region's most important glaciers and Cape Horn.
There are daily lectures on specialized area subjects (Glaciology, Native Cultures, Navigation Routes, Flora and Fauna, and Penguins) to complement the unique experience.

Meals
The expedition programs include welcome and farewell cocktails, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and an open bar during the entire journey, as well as a cafeteria service. Enjoy exquisite food and selected wines. The menu includes international food and typical local dishes, alternating with a-la-carte menus and buffets. The expedition team is committed to making your cruise pleasant and entertaining. They will organize fun-filled, family-oriented activities on board. You will be able to participate in night activities, bingo, nautical knot-tying lessons, cooking demonstrations, wine tasting events, parlor games, a visit to the engine room and many other activities. In addition, you will have access to a small library with books and magazines about the region.
Excursions
During the cruise, there will be daily inland tours – organized and directed by Cruceros Australis Expedition Group – with an average duration of two hours. They consist of walks along trails in native forests and visits to glaciers and to Cape Horn National Park and include talks on the area’s flora and fauna. A whiskey on millenary ice or a delicious cup of hot chocolate will be offered at the end of the excursion. For each excursion waterproof suits (trousers and jacket) and lifejackets will be provided. Groups will be formed to embark in Zodiac boats that go to the excursion starting point.
