With breathtaking landscapes in Belo Horizonte, nature and history in Ouro Preto, art and color in Tiradentes, and the iconic Rio de Janeiro, this itinerary provides plenty of time to both explore and relax in the lesser visited regions of Brazil in addition to one of its most vibrant cities. This is a cross-country trip focusing on the southern portion of Brazil, and is perfect for groups and families with older children who enjoy outdoor activities and adventure.

  • Day 1 - Welcome to Brazil! - Inhotim

    • Upon arrival to the international airport of Belo Horizonte, you'll be met by your driver, who will be holding a sign with your name on it. From there, get in your private vehicle and set off, meandering through the hills until you reach the nearby town of Brumadinho (1h30min). You'll stay at a simple yet good property located near to the Inhotim.

  • Day 2 - Ouro Preto

    • Today you'll explore Inhotim with your private guide. Unique in concept and execution, this contemporary art and botanical center cannot be equated with anywhere else in the country. Spend the day visiting the pavilions and outdoor sculpture parks set in among lush tropical vegetation and gardens landscaped by Burle Marx. After closing time, go directly to the nearby town of Ouro Preto (1h).

  • Day 3 - Ouro Preto

    • After breakfast, meet your guide at the hotel's lobby to start exploring the city. The most famous town in the region, Ouro Preto is also the birth of the historic development in the region, so there are several interesting sites to visit during your time here, such as: The Inconfidencia Museum, which tells the story of the uprising to overthrow the Portuguese throne; The Mina da Passagem, which is one of the old mines that helped make Ouro Preto one of the most affluent cities in the country during the gold boom; The Mill House; Our Lady Carmelite church; and the iconic St Francis Assisi church, among others.

  • Day 4 - Tiradentes

    • Leave the hotel in the early morning and head towards Tiradentes. On the way there, one hour away from Ouro Preto, is Congonhas, a much smaller town where the main attraction is The Basilica do Senhor Bom Jesus Matosinho. The complex is home to Aleijadinho famous 12 apostles sculpted and lined outside the Basilica and his Via Sacra. Then another two hours of driving until you arrive to Tiradentes.

  • Day 5 - Tiradentes

    • In the morning, wander through the town of Tiradentes with your guide. Over the years, it has attracted writers and artisans who have installed themselves permanently and helped make Tiradentes the alluring town that it is today. The colorful buildings that line the streets are home to shops, artist studios and restaurants.

    • Later, head to Bichinho, a tiny village where the acclaimed Oficina de Agosto design studio have their workshops. Several other studios have sparked up, which makes this an interesting cultural stop.

    • Overnight at Solar da Ponte hotel.

    • Meals: Breakfast

  • Day 6 - Ibitipoca

    • After checking out, drive to Lima Duarte (2h30min), a small countryside place where the Reserva do Ibitipoca farm hotel is located. You will stay in one of the rooms of the main house.

    • Meals: breakfast, Dinner

  • Day 7 - Ibitipoca

    • Full day at leisure to enjoy the lovely and calm settings of this hidden gem. It's a great place to escape and relax. However, if you're not interested in downtime, there are plenty of activities that can be arranged at the hotel. One of the main attractions is horseback riding on the stunning hills of the region.

    • Overnight at Reserva do Ibitipoca.

    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Day 8 - Rio de Janeiro

    • Free morning at Ibitipoca.

    • After lunch, check out and head towards the coast, until you reach Rio de Janeiro city (about 3-hour drive). Stay at the iconic Copacabana Palace, the most traditional luxury property in Brazil.

    • Overnight at Copacabana Palace.

    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

  • Day 9 - Rio de Janeiro

    • In the morning, meet your guide at the hotel's lobby to explore the Marvelous City. This day trip provides a compact sightseeing tour of the most famous tourist attractions in Rio. First stop is the Corcovado Mountain and the statue of Christ the Redeemer, probably the most well-known symbol of Rio and one of the 7 Wonders of the World.

    • Overnight at Copacabana Palace.

    • Meals: Breakfast

  • Day 10 - Rio de Janeiro

    • Once more, your guide will pass by the hotel after breakfast time. This tour takes you through the charming and leafy neighborhoods of Rio’s southern zone, away from the beach but very close to nature. End the day at the Sugarloaf Mountain, one of the best places to watch the sunset in Rio. You will reach the summit by a double cable car ride that starts by the Urca Mountain and is an attraction itself.

    • Overnight at Copacabana Palace.

    • Meals: Breakfast

  • Day 11 - Farewell Brazil!

    • Last day in Brazil! Take advantage of these last hours to do any last-minute shopping or relax at the hotel's amazing swimming pool. At the scheduled time, a driver will transfer you to the international airport of Rio, where you'll board your flight back home.
