Cusco / Sacred Valley

After breakfast this morning, transfer to the airport in Lima to catch your flight to Cusco. Check-in assistance.

Upon arrival in Cusco, meet your guide and driver for your transfer to lower altitude in the Sacred Valley. En route to your hotel, visit the Awanacancha Textile and Camelid Center where you can see and interact with four different Andean camelids: llamas, alpacas, vicuña and guanacos. Learn about the traditional dyeing and knitting techniques from local inhabitants.

After lunch, enjoy an excursion of your choice.

• Artisan market – an exhibit and sale of fine woven crafts, colorful tapestries, handicrafts and textiles from Pisaq and nearby villages

• Hike or bike through the Sacred Valley

Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu

Take your private transfer to the Ollantaytambo train station (20 minutes from your hotel), for your Vistadome class train ride to Aguas Calientes at the base of Machu Picchu.

On arrival, your guide assists you to the buses and together you take the winding journey up the mountain to see and experience Machu Picchu for the first time. Enjoy a buffet lunch at Sanctuary Lodge next to the ruins, and then take a private guided tour of the citadel; free time in the ruins to follow before you descend to Aguas Calientes by bus when ready.

Dinner is included a la carte at your hotel this evening.

Walking tour of Cusco. Follow narrow streets filled with Inca stonework to sites like the Temple of the Sun, the Plaza de Armas and La Merced or San Francisco cathedrals.

Activity Options:

Explore Sacsayhuamán, which in Quechua means “satisfied falcon,” and is considered of religious and military significance

Explore city highlights in private tour with historian or specialist

Visit the traditional Andean village of Chinchero. The visit combines Inca archaeological sites, typical Andean community, a colonial church, and a colorful market which on certain days, traditional bartering can be observed.
