Day7

Yacht Excursion Aboard Sea Finch

Today, enjoy a full-day yacht excursions to neighboring islands, Punta Carrion and South Plazas, aboard the Sea Finch.

This morning, you have the option of snorkeling in the calm waters of Punta Carrión where you might observe a variety of tropical fish and possibly white tip reef sharks that peacefully rest on the sandy bottom.

Located a few hundred meters away from the eastern coast of Santa Cruz Island, South Plazas and North Plazas islands were formed from uplifted seabed, giving both a uniquely tilted tabletop quality. Disembark on South Plazas where a colony of sea lions greet visitors. Further up the shore a carpet of scarlet sesuvium succulents serves as groundcover for a grove of luminescent green prickly-pear cactus. Yellow-gray land iguanas sit beneath, waiting patiently for pears to drop. The trail gradually leads towards the southern cliff of the island where you may observe nesting swallow-tailed gulls and several sea birds such as tropic birds, Nazca and blue footed boobies.

Day9

Yacht Excursion Aboard Sea Finch

Enjoy a full-day yacht exploration aboard the Sea Finch to neighboring islands, North Seymour and Bachas Beach.

North Seymour Island was lifted from the ocean floor by a seismic event that created its low lying, flat profile. Swallow-tailed gulls sit perched in cliff ledges that sit only meters above the shoreline and a forest of Palo Santo trees lie just above the landing site. The islands are known for emblematic fauna, including sea lions, land iguanas and blue-footed boobies. As the scenic trail turns inland, dynamically active colonies of both “magnificent” and “great” frigate birds engage in courtship displays. The males sport magnificent and ballooned throats, accentuated by their impressive wing spans, which can reach up to 9 feet!

Las Bachas, a beautiful coralline beach located on the north shore of Santa Cruz Island, is the perfect place for snorkeling, swimming or simply kicking back to enjoy the soft, white sands. Several brackish lagoons lie only a few steps away from the sea are the feeding grounds of various wading birds, from stilts to the iconic flamingos.
