You’ll find Darwin’s finches, Galápagos mockingbirds, yellow warblers, and brown pelicans nesting throughout the island.

Following lunch visit Cerro Dragon on Santa Cruz Island. Hike to a saltwater lagoon, home to greater flamingos, black-necked stilts, and white-cheeked pintails. Further inland you’ll find a number of land iguanas nesting.

Spend the day touring Santa Cruz Island´s most famous sites. Start at Puerto Ayora, then take a bus to the highlands, passing from the island’s coastal region into the lush, humid forests. Visit one of the ranches where giant tortoises reside in their natural habitat. These forests are also filled with Galápagos hawks, barn owls, vermilion flycatchers, and yellow warblers.

Sit down to lunch at the ranch before heading back to Puerto Ayora to visit the Fausto Llerena Tortoise Breeding Center. See tortoises from the many islands in their different stages of life, from eggs, juveniles, and adults as they are nurtured until they are ready for release.

Take the chance to snorkel or kayak along the shores where adult and pup sea lions swim.

This afternoon you’ll be on Santa Fe Island, a white sand beach where sea lions often rest and several brightly colored land iguana species reside. Hike to see the largest prickly pear cactus in the Galapagos before taking a dip in the crystalline waters.

Day7

Green sea turtle swimming underwater

Day7

Española Island

Spend the morning on Española Island, starting at the outstanding beaches of Gardner Bay. Sea lions, marine iguanas, and the exotic Española mockingbird live here. Dive into Gardner Islet for a chance to play with the sea lions. Snorkel or kayak nearby Osborn Islet, a perfect place to observe the many varieties of vivid tropical fish, rays, and turtles.

After lunch hike the trails of Punta Suarez that lead you to a geyser that sprays water 25 m (75 feet) into the air. Watch as sea lions bodysurf in the waves while Española lava lizards roam the shores. Look for oystercatchers, blue-footed and Nazca boobies, Galápagos hawks, Galápagos doves, swallow-tailed gulls, red-billed tropicbirds, and Española mockingbirds. If you’re here between April and December, you’ll be treated to colonies of waved albatross. Kayak or take a panga ride around the island for even more chances to spot the numerous birds and animals living here.
